wasp vs soft short film's by Alex Thomson
wasp and soft have similar elements even thought they are by two different directors and are set in two different areas.
wasp the genre of this film is a socialistic drama is about a single mother living in estate with 4 kids dealing with their problems such as kids bullying her kids or abusing them e.g. kicking them while at school. then as the film goes on the mother goes threw a turmoil that is to good to spoil. the mother displays themes of sadness as she is regularly seen crying and in disarray as the circumstances her life has evolved into a pretty 'shitty' one another emotion she displays is anger especially clear within the first few minutes of the film that this mum docent mess about when it comes to her kids as she walks all the way to a girls house to get in a fight with her mother(pretty badass in my opinion) but she also goes through a feeling of new love or a fresh start where she can forget about her old life if she embraces the new one at the cost of her children.
In soft the main genre is socialistic drama and the main character is a son and farther who are bullied and beaten by the same group but this is presented in two different ways where you can see what happens via the bullies camera which is a pretty poor camera with bad lighting and sound quality while when it comes to the son and farther point of view its very bright easy to see and the audio is clear which shows a contrast in social and living standards. during a 'chase' the two set of people and meet but the farther and son are scared but eventually go to face them. then they…. wait a minute if i told you what the point be in you watching go watch it this will still be hear. themes of the film are bullying from the gang as well as family conflict.
wasp has merits of its own the film is very good but soft out matches it as it has a better and wider demographic and a better message of practise what you preach instead of family first and this is what makes it a better film.
