my brother the devil analyst

My brother the devil is a film made in 2012 directed and written by Sally El Hosaini who has done films like the green zone and the fifth bowl but in My brother the devil she focuses on gang crime, gang life homophobia and brother relationship and even religion all in one film which is an impressive achievement.

My Brother the Devil (2012) Posterthe characters Rashid and Mo are both muslims living in the United Kingdom with there parents. Mo is a 16 year old boy just out of high school getting excellent grades in some of his subjects while his older brother is a school drop out or he left school with no GCSE's and has instead turned to gang crime as this allows him to get on of mallows hirachry of needs of having a place of belonging he fulfils this but while Rashid is this person who wants the best for his family and his life but without the gcse's he can't even get a job later on which is a even worse state since he hasn't had work experience or a job in his life. so here is a small message of that you need everything you can to achieve what you want later in life.

later on in the film it is reviled that Rashid is gay which is strictly against  his families and his religion and after his brother mo finds out he is gay he tells everyone he is a terrorist to save himself from everyone constantly heckling and abuse from his peers he would get. putting the religion aside for one moment this is the world we live in gay people are constantly met with hate and abuse from people they might not even know just for being who they are but what is worse later on the film this is what puts Rashid in danger as he try's to kill him as almost religions see being gay is a sin or crime worse than murder.

even though we believe to live in a society with no gangs that is simple not the case dose not matter who you are or where your from if you mess with someone or you hurt someone in a gang the whole gang will be coming after you at least thats what it is in this film with an eye for an eye mentality so when one of there members dies they then go to kill the murder and doing this while avoiding the police using signals and everyone helping everyone saying when there are police around.

1500 word essay on warrior directed by Gavin Connor release date in 2011

this scene takes place 1:35:00 to 1:40:00 in the film

word count:

In this scene Tommy has just come off a win in the tournament but we have also learnt about his army background and what he did before leaving and he is found in the casino on the slot.

The performance of paddy who is played by Nick Notle who we see two sides of paddy with when he first sees Tommy played by Tom Hardy and paddy is started off as showing as being kind, caring and finally getting to be apart of Tommie's life and finally knows Tommie's feeling as we can connote that paddies farther was abusive towards them and tried to make amends and turned him away as well but we could also connote that paddy means he knows what he is going through as he seemed like he was ex navy with his expression of sea/ fishing stories which he is seen listening to in different parts of the film but which sounds like he is listening to Moby dick which gives evidence towards the idea of ex-navy not only this he also says "I've been there Tommy, I've done it, I've seen it" which also gives more evidence towards this argument also while walking away he does not look back as if to say he has no regrets left and he has now finally made his peace and is finally doing what his son's what him to do.

after this paddy as shown as what he might of been before sobering up as he breaks his many many years of being sober and throws that away as Tommy has confirmed his  greatest fear of his children no longer needing him in there lives and they don't care that he has changed and you see on his face that he is shell shocked when he gets this realisation but we then see him in the hotel room with plates of leftover food and many many many glasses and bottles of alcohol and him babbling to himself trying to interact with the recording and then after Tommy coming out of his room he is met with the aggression or "balls" that Tommy respected more when he was like it which in turn means he should look better than before but this isn't the case as paddy breaks down and is embraced by Tommy and it took him going to the loosest of low's to finally get affection from his son that he wanted to make amends with but the reaction to this by paddy is a little over the top with him shaking and going a bright red and not yelling at Tommy even though he is supposed to be livid

Tommy's performance is good as he keeps his quiet and aggressive side that we see through the rest of the film but we finally see caring and compassionate Tommy and Tommy facial expression when he knows he has messed up things badly. In the beginning of the scene we see Tommy as much of a loner as ever and he is being antisocial picking one with none near him for a couple slots to remove any possible at conversation he is seated in a relaxed position and facial to have dis-like or like in anyway after being hostile towards paddy which is just being mean to him for literally no reason than just getting revenge for what happened years ago he then rips into paddy even more describing him as a "beggar with his cup out" which suggests he is like the people that nobody likes any more and the look on Tommys face is nothing but disgust on his face as he delivered  line he then goes on to say that "the only thing that me and breandon Conlan is that neither of them has a uses for him any more" and after to telling paddy to leave he looks at paddy and the face of regret instantly occupies his face saying that he knows what he did/ said was wrong and he has lost all chance of regaining any relationship with his father which is also further supported by the fact he throws a coin at the slot machine.

with scene in the hotel the room a few hours after the last it shows paddy at his lowest form of low with him drunk out of his mind meaning that he is more violent eventually waking up Tommy who is blank expression as if not surprised on what he sees and even when he is met with aggression Tommy keeps blacked expressionless and holds his ground and after paddy starts to breakdown he then realises the impact he has made to him with those few short minutes and after hugging and comforting his farther he then helps him to his bed so paddy can pass out in the bed all while confronting him and listening to paddy saying he is sorry for all he has done and all he has said and this is enough to effect Tommy to accept his farther apology

The mise-en-scene in this scene as it shows that tommy is not only wants to be alone but makes it so he is alone at all times as with the few people around him and the previous shot making the area look empty and to show its the early hours of the day when the least amount of people will be out and this shows Tommys idea or mind set of the loneliness. also the lighting in this area is only from the slot machines making it so everything is artificial like the relationship between Tommy and Paddy and isn't one filled with love.

While in the next scene the lighting is from the outside or natural light to signify that there relationship as become natural and this is when most of emotion is shown during the film and shows the most development of Tommie but the room is pure white while there is alcohol everywhere and uneaten food everywhere making the room look disgusting which is supposed to represent Paddies fall from grace as he is now destroying his once pure body from food and alcohol as a coping mechanism and as a challenge to tommy as he then proceeds to get in Tommys face basically saying is this what you want me to be like someone who is filled with rage and pain.

warriors Brendons confromation 1:01:20 - 1:04:06

Warriors beach scene

In this scene Brendon’s wife gets a call from Brendon’s coach and then he has been accepted into the Sparta competition and he tells her that he is going to that competition no matter what she says.

The performance of this scene is very well you can tell the emotions from the wife Tess played by Jennifer Morrison are sincere where she wants to support her husband through this but she docent want to see him get hurt/hospitalized or killed due to how vicious the guy koba is as he is un-deafted and she obviously knows it's not what he is used to fighting and thinks he will get hurt which will put them further in debt this is all portrayed by her attitude towards the idea of being since your doing what’s best for you trying to help the family I'm going to do the same where she isn't going to watch her husband fight meaning that there daughters are not going to see there dad fight as well and they way she says her lines are very believable as she is sarcastic when she says "Cause I really enjoyed that conversation we just had about making that decision together." but is obvious that she knows Brendon might be in trouble when she says " Fine, you’re not going to get killed. But can you promise me you’re not going to get hurt? You’re not going to go to hospital? You’re paralyzed? We’ll money. No house. Hospital bills--
End up in the not going to end up have no prize Payments for--" and that is what the character is most focused on being able to help her family through a tough time but she now realizes that if he gets hurt they wouldn't be able to pay for the hospital bill. This character is the most believable and relatable especially to mothers that watched the film, as this is also what most real people are mainly focused on.

While Brendon’s acting by Joel Edderton isn't spectacular as it seems that the character only has one way of speaking and one level of speaking never shouting never whispering and his facial expression only seems to be the same of the sun always being shone on his face making even emotional scenes like this one seem meaningless and that he dose not want to be where he is but he does this for them which you can tell as he looks to his wife Tess and says his decision you can tell he already knows what she is about to say more or less and makes a decision instead of talking about it and if there is different ways of surviving which is probably the most irresponsible thing to do.

film proposal: hustle/con artists

My idea is so do a con film such as "focus"and "American hustle" but instead of showing all of the con and the build up to it i would most likely do it with a non liner narrative and will have about 4 characters with an enforcer a female and male protagonist and a mafia boss that they try to con
it will start at the end of where they almost gotten away  with it but due to unfortunate circumstances they get killed or so the crime boss thinks.

Au Revoir Les Enfants

This film is set during world war 2 as the Nazi'sinvade france and everthing is going to hell but within all this two boys a french catholic boy named julien quintin (played by gaspard mmanesse) and a jewish boy named jean bonnet (played by raphael fejito) which is based on the director louis malle's. but even though the boys are enimmes they soon find a common ground, especially when it is to deal with the tyranny of Nazis.

the title of the film means goodbye children and it is french (big shocker I know).

anyway julien is a boy who is a wanna be tough guy but is a real mother boy who he is pamperd by and he even still wets the bed even at the age of what seems 12/13 years old

while at the school the headmaster introduces 3 new boys one of which being jean. jean is the same age as julien but he is socially awarkward and good at arthimatic and adapt at playing the piano.

Because of the fact the boy is jewish he is now seen as a social outcast a beacon of deastuction if you like. as were jews are during that time period nazi's are sure to come running.

The film deals with problems such as dealing with your own problems having a different facade and how you want the world to see you. dealing with bullying because of race or religon (but in the film understand able for the context) but also has themes of a realism that not many of us was alive to see but this is why storys like theses are the best because we suddenly have that window into what happend not what could happen through a creative mind no we see a world that has gone and laid rest but with it sprouted new life into the next and that is always nice to see.

this film has decent acting the realtionship between the boys is a little lack luster as i have never seen two boys meet/ act this way but then again i wasnt even an idea at that time. so id say check this out but only if you can get invested in the story as it is slow in places especially the beginning but is a good one if you can follow it

children of men review

Watch Children of MenThe film Children and men is about a birth- the beginning of a life and a a new erea of man kind. the story is this. in 2027 there has not been a birth of a baby in over 18 years due to poor female fertility and the youngest person in the world who is 18 years old which now considerer a baby and England boarders are closed and all imagrants and illegal ones.

there is this place called the fishers an orginisation that wants equal rights for all races in england.
Then we have the goverment that want to keep all immagrants out and only keep british people in (Ukip anyone).

The fisher group have done bombings before in liverpool even thought we dont know exactly what happend it effected them so they use vilolence to protect themselves and others as well but they wish to find fairness with peace.

the main charecters ex girlfriend/current girlfriend introduce Theo faron ex-rally particapant and poloition to a desk job but this is for the better for self pressivation. he lost his mother what seems recently but we are never told when or how and his farther is never mentiond but this charecter is basiclly most people in england that are struggling for money and all the cards not showing good and going his way.

then we have the second main charecter a young african/forjein girl kee who seems to be in early twentys but the main thing is that she is pregnant, the first natural birth in 18 years but the fishers have been getting desprate and because of this they do not want the goverment to get to her so they do not take the baby and make it look like it is a british baby and not a forjien baby.

then we have theos ex girl friend / current girl friend (its never really explained) juilian she disappread to continue fighting for what she beilived while theo stopped. julian is a peaceful charecter but we are never shown/told otherwises so its really not clear if she can defend herself. but she was a mirror to a special groupe known like a myth called the humanity project which hides its self but helps to get the fertility back up but she was never told how to communicate to the other fishers she offers theo money to help her out so its clear she is well connected to get the ammount of money but she is a pacifist and wants people to be united though this ideology of anything for the kids.

i would highly recommend this film with it being dark in nature of a decent possiblity of what might happen in the future is highly likely but in this case it is an extreme version which is scary.

ok people thank you for reading this and ill watch a film late see ya

dirty pretty things review

Dirty Pretty Thing is a social realism msyteroy living with crime film based in modrern London shot in 2002 with plot holes during the film but all is filled at the end of the film but theses holes keep you guessing until the end where all is explained to a degree.

it was directed by Stephen Frears who has done previous work such as The Queen and the film was produced by bbc film and ,colour film.
so the stage is set and the time has come lets begin the show.
now with most of my reviews I would tell you what I will be focusing on and why should this be any different. so ill be focusing on the story for the majority but giving the protagonists and antagonists there own little part in this review.

so lets introduce the characters of the film from bad to good. first off we start with the antagonist Sneaky/Juan is acted by Sergi lopez who portraits this greedy hotel manager to the maximum, this character only goal is to gain a profit and gain substantial amount of money after he retries and this characters traits are fitting he has a silver tongue convincing people to do so, to scenes when someone is desperate enough to give up a'lot for what they need and also how to talk his way out of pretty much anything with his connections his money and his all out attitude he is one guy who knows what he wants and how to get it.

Then we have Juliet played by Sophie Okonedo who is a working girl that comes into the hotel to work for clients in the hotel the two protagonist who work there. Juliet is a very trust worthy person as she dosent question what she does and why she does it as long as she gets paid as in the 2000 prostitution is illegal but no one questions her as she causes no trouble. but early on after attending to one of her client's something shocking is found. Juliet personality is loyal comforting and relaxed but this made her a funny charecter as "shes is the one that sucks your cocks"

Then we have Senay Gelik played by Audrey Tautou is a refugee this means she is not aloud to work she's not aloud out of the country and she's not aloud to have a adventurous life basicly. but this woman is an independent and resourceful women which means she knows how to get a job and to live a life. when the film starts she is a dreamer wanting to go to new York which is a dream of hers since she has family there so she thinks she will be fine, she dreams about the white horses and the police men riding them in the park a city full of lights but due to circumstances this is a difficult and gruelling task. she is also instantly hassled by two immigration agents which I believe to do with them not liking slums (dosent actually say this but I believe the characters are racists). this is my favourite character as this portale of the scenario is a believable one as well as the fact that she acts like a human instead of someone that is there for a job and dosent care about that performance. so well done to the writers and Audrey for the steller performance and she is "the one who cleans your rooms".

now we have  Okwe played by Chowetel Ejiofor who is a african who works at the same hotel as Senay but with a major major major diffrences he is a illegal immagrant who had to leave his daughter in africa for reasons I dare not spoil but its not good reasons. lets leave it at that. anyway Okwe eats a plant to keep him awake and it seems he has about 1 hour of sleep a day or at least not much as he is a taxi driver in the day to "save people that the system has failed"
and at night he works the front desk of the hotel which he has gained a realtionship with the door greeter but Okwe is a very able person he can out smart most and can be reasourcesful with the people he meets and people he be friends to get extra pay or get a few jobs here and there and finally he is very sneaky as he can pretend to work in place he has never seen/been in a day in his life but he "is the one who drives your cabs".

there you have it the "people you do not see" so what better than to give a little bit of context to why some of the charceters lives are so bad due to the law that concerns them.

"In June 2000 the bodies of 58 Chinese peoplewere discovered in a refrigerated lorry arriving in Dover. The tragedy occurred at a time when enormous media attention was already focused on the number of asylum seekers trying to smuggle themselves through the Channel tunnel from the Sangatte refugee camp near the Calais entrance to the tunnel. The Home Office drew two lessons from these incidents. First, that the asylum system was being abused by economic migrants seeking to join the UK labour market; and second that closer control of the entry of low-skilled workers would stem the number of people entering illegally."
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/libertycentral/2009/jan/15/nationality-immigration-asylum-act (i dont not own this extract all credit goes to the guardian website and the writer of the article)

now because of theses finding Britain had a clap down on immigration and boarder control and so we did we invested millions to boarder controls and training of personnel and of that year decreased by a significant amount in the hundreds of thousand (that we know about) dropped to a high amount of tens of thousands (baby steps baby steps) but as illegal immigrants are still getting in to the country immigration officers are now like police in the scene of with a warrant they can search the premises and see if someone that has asylum or is under a watch list is working when they are not meant to.
