1500 word essay on warrior directed by Gavin Connor release date in 2011

this scene takes place 1:35:00 to 1:40:00 in the film

word count:

In this scene Tommy has just come off a win in the tournament but we have also learnt about his army background and what he did before leaving and he is found in the casino on the slot.

The performance of paddy who is played by Nick Notle who we see two sides of paddy with when he first sees Tommy played by Tom Hardy and paddy is started off as showing as being kind, caring and finally getting to be apart of Tommie's life and finally knows Tommie's feeling as we can connote that paddies farther was abusive towards them and tried to make amends and turned him away as well but we could also connote that paddy means he knows what he is going through as he seemed like he was ex navy with his expression of sea/ fishing stories which he is seen listening to in different parts of the film but which sounds like he is listening to Moby dick which gives evidence towards the idea of ex-navy not only this he also says "I've been there Tommy, I've done it, I've seen it" which also gives more evidence towards this argument also while walking away he does not look back as if to say he has no regrets left and he has now finally made his peace and is finally doing what his son's what him to do.

after this paddy as shown as what he might of been before sobering up as he breaks his many many years of being sober and throws that away as Tommy has confirmed his  greatest fear of his children no longer needing him in there lives and they don't care that he has changed and you see on his face that he is shell shocked when he gets this realisation but we then see him in the hotel room with plates of leftover food and many many many glasses and bottles of alcohol and him babbling to himself trying to interact with the recording and then after Tommy coming out of his room he is met with the aggression or "balls" that Tommy respected more when he was like it which in turn means he should look better than before but this isn't the case as paddy breaks down and is embraced by Tommy and it took him going to the loosest of low's to finally get affection from his son that he wanted to make amends with but the reaction to this by paddy is a little over the top with him shaking and going a bright red and not yelling at Tommy even though he is supposed to be livid

Tommy's performance is good as he keeps his quiet and aggressive side that we see through the rest of the film but we finally see caring and compassionate Tommy and Tommy facial expression when he knows he has messed up things badly. In the beginning of the scene we see Tommy as much of a loner as ever and he is being antisocial picking one with none near him for a couple slots to remove any possible at conversation he is seated in a relaxed position and facial to have dis-like or like in anyway after being hostile towards paddy which is just being mean to him for literally no reason than just getting revenge for what happened years ago he then rips into paddy even more describing him as a "beggar with his cup out" which suggests he is like the people that nobody likes any more and the look on Tommys face is nothing but disgust on his face as he delivered  line he then goes on to say that "the only thing that me and breandon Conlan is that neither of them has a uses for him any more" and after to telling paddy to leave he looks at paddy and the face of regret instantly occupies his face saying that he knows what he did/ said was wrong and he has lost all chance of regaining any relationship with his father which is also further supported by the fact he throws a coin at the slot machine.

with scene in the hotel the room a few hours after the last it shows paddy at his lowest form of low with him drunk out of his mind meaning that he is more violent eventually waking up Tommy who is blank expression as if not surprised on what he sees and even when he is met with aggression Tommy keeps blacked expressionless and holds his ground and after paddy starts to breakdown he then realises the impact he has made to him with those few short minutes and after hugging and comforting his farther he then helps him to his bed so paddy can pass out in the bed all while confronting him and listening to paddy saying he is sorry for all he has done and all he has said and this is enough to effect Tommy to accept his farther apology

The mise-en-scene in this scene as it shows that tommy is not only wants to be alone but makes it so he is alone at all times as with the few people around him and the previous shot making the area look empty and to show its the early hours of the day when the least amount of people will be out and this shows Tommys idea or mind set of the loneliness. also the lighting in this area is only from the slot machines making it so everything is artificial like the relationship between Tommy and Paddy and isn't one filled with love.

While in the next scene the lighting is from the outside or natural light to signify that there relationship as become natural and this is when most of emotion is shown during the film and shows the most development of Tommie but the room is pure white while there is alcohol everywhere and uneaten food everywhere making the room look disgusting which is supposed to represent Paddies fall from grace as he is now destroying his once pure body from food and alcohol as a coping mechanism and as a challenge to tommy as he then proceeds to get in Tommys face basically saying is this what you want me to be like someone who is filled with rage and pain.
